And now here are Duane’s SM-100 HIPTiNite fixed blades before and after heat treat.  We hope to have a picture of the finished products in a few weeks to share with you as well.

Our dear friend Duane Dwyer of Strider Knives shipped us some SM-100 folders and fixed blades to heat treat for him.  Here’s a before and after of the folders – fixed blades to follow soon.  Not sure anyone can compete with Duane’s grinds!

So I talked Duane into sending me a picture of what he has in process so far for Blade, here is a shot of some of the fixed blades and the bar stock that will be available, hopefully folders will make it to the show as well.  Can’t wait to see you all in Atlanta!

So we’ve spent so much time developing and making the coolest knife materials that embarrassingly we don’t really know how to make knives.  So I camped out one night over at Strider’s shop in CA and ground my heart away (sometimes to the faint sound of laughter in the background – not sure what Eric learing from Duane how to make a knifethat was all about!).

After assessing my skill set, Duane thought it best for me not to start out on SM-100, so I tackled CPM 3V instead.

Although I’ll probably never be a great knifemaker, it was a memory that I’ll never forget and really gave me invaluable insight into just what you all do on a daily basis.

Thanks Duane!

This picture is the first batch of SM-100 plate made since we froze our manufacturing practices.  Strider has worked with countless pieces from us, but this batch was Strider Knives SM-100 plate materialspecial to us because we consider it the first ‘production’ run of SM-100 and we’re proud that it went to Strider Knives!

You’ll have to ask Duane and the gang what knives they plan to make out of this sheet, but we’re certain they will be phenomenal tools as usual.

It felt great to move up from shipping single pounds of sheet to tens of pounds of sheet at a time to shipping hundreds of pounds at a time – thousands of pounds is right around the corner!

There were some other choice words written on the plate which I personally found amusing, but we thought it might be more appropriate to take the picture before they appeared.
